Epi Centar International conducted comprehensive analysis of the alignment of the Swiss project portfolio with the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB), engaged by Skat Consultaing.
The GAWB aims to align the region with the European Green Deal through five pillars:
- Decarbonization (climate, energy, and mobility);
- Circular Economy;
- Depollution (air, water, and soil);
- Sustainable Food Systems and Rural Areas; and
- Biodiversity (protection and restoration of ecosystems).
Switzerland's cooperation programs in the Western Balkans (North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, BiH and Serbia), including W&E; E&E projects and regional initiatives align with GAWB pillars, are demonstrating significant contribution towards the implementation of the GA.
Epi Centar International conducted the exercise through desk review and organizing interviews across the region, afterwards mapping the Swiss supported projects in WB and assessing their relevance to the Green Agenda Western Balkan. The mapping and research were focused on key actors, challenges, lessons learned, and areas of impactful contribution.
Based on the extensive analysis, Epi Centar International provided strategic recommendations for future support, concluding that the Swiss project portfolio plays a crucial role in supporting the GAWB, driving sustainable development, and fostering regional cooperation in WB.
