The Prespa-Ohrid region is industrialized only sparsely; small-scale enterprises dominate the local economies. The region suffers from deindustrialization and the concomitant loss of employment opportunities. Most stakeholders in the Prespa-Ohrid Euro region, therefore, view the cross border business co-operation as lying at the heart of the regional development and, thus, regard it as integral component of a functional cross border co-operation. Therefore, EWI contracted EPI CENTAR International to analyze the border tariffs and regulations in combination with the identification of the support activities promoting economic development and cross-border trade, as well as policy analysis that would be presented on national and regional levels as part of the Prespa-Ohrid Euroregion and EWI regional policy advocacy work.
