EPI CENTAR International was contracted by UNDP to produce the value chain analysis of the producers in the following business sectors in Mitrovicë/a North and South, Leposaviq/Leposavić, Zubin Potok and Zveçan/Zvečan municipalities.
The overall objective of the assignment was to focus on concrete interventions required to improve Kosovo’s long term sustainable industrial development and economic performance.
The project goal was to explore opportunities to support the local farmers in Mitrovicë/a region to increase their domestic and export competitiveness. Thus, the overall objective of the value chain analysis was to understand the current capacities of the value chain actors (farmers, processors, distributers, and input suppliers), identify their challenges and necessities.
The value chain approach helps to identify all the producers of a good or service within and beyond a cluster and shows which actions are needed to support them. In particular, the value chain analysis conducted by the selected research company should assess the existing situation (nature and scope of operations) of the selected sectors, and provide specific and realistic short and medium-term interventions to address the identified barriers faced by involved actors.
