"MACEDONIAN TRADITIONAL WHITE CHEESE FROM OVCHEPOLSK PRAMENKA" is a geographical name for a type of brined sheep's cheese produced in a traditional way by curdling raw milk obtained from sheep originating from the indigenous Macedonian breed of sheep - Ovchepolska Pramenka.
The association of breeders of the domestic autochthonous breed of sheep "Pramenka Ovchepolka" in cooperation with the agricultural cooperative "Eko Ovchepolka" initiated a project with the aim of protecting the Macedonian traditional white cheese from Ovchepolska Pramenka. The Research and Elaborate prepared by Epi Center International contributed to the successful completion of the project and the protection of this unique product.
With the protection of this cheese, a unique Macedonian breed of sheep is affirmed, which additionally creates conditions for the inheritance of the young generations of the farms. The production of products with protected marks and high added value ensures a better sheep production and contributes to its future development.
