The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management adopted a Decision on the registration of a protected geographical indication - MACEDONIAN LAMB FROM OVCHEPOL PRAMENKA.

Based on the Law on the quality of agricultural products, after a procedure carried out by an expert commission, in cooperation with the Food and Veterinary Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management determined that all the conditions for registration of a protected geographical indication - MACEDONIAN have been met. LAMB FROM OVCHEPOLSK PRAMENKA.

The procedure began with the preparation of the Elaborate for the protected geographical indication "MACEDONIAN LAMB FROM OVCHEPOLSKA PRAMENKA", which was prepared by Epi Center International for the Association of breeders of domestic autochthonous breed of sheep "PRAMENKA OVCHEPOLKA", Skopje, which is the holder of the geographical indication. The report is a comprehensive document that includes the type of mark, data and category of the product, description of the method and process of production as well as raw material, as well as evidence of traceability, definition and connection of the product with the geographical area; and the relationship between a specific geographical area and product characteristics, for a geographical indication. The report also contains an overview of research conducted by Epi Center International on lamb meat in several regions.

The decision to register a protected geographical indication - Macedonian lamb from Ovchepolska pramenka entered into force on December 27, 2023, according to the announcement in the Official Gazette of the RSM number 280 of 2023.
