IADK and EPICENTER as co-implementers of the Technical Support for Agriculture in Kosovo (IWRM-K) program selected 76 farmers, apple and raspberry growers from the municipalities covering the three river basins (Iber, Morava and Lepenc) where the program is implemented.
All farmers will receive training from field experts on the following topics: advanced apple and raspberry production techniques, rational waste disposal, water and pesticides. After the training, farmers will be tested, those who meet the eligibility criteria and other criteria will be selected for grants, known as mandatory grants and negotiated grants worth €7,500.
EPICENTER/IADK held the first round of training on good agricultural practices. The program expert prof. Marian Kiprianovski shared knowledge and experiences with farmers on topics such as pomology, soil fertilization and optimization of apple nutrition, use of fertilizers in apple orchards, irrigation.
Along with the theoretical training, the farmers will also receive practical training, soil analysis will be done for each farmer and appropriate recommendations will be given for fertilizing the trees. The rational use of water, pesticide waste and the implementation of good agricultural practices always lead farmers to increased yield, improved quality and protection of water from pollution.
