Journalists are a key partner on the road to the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to the EU, contributing to increase public support by creating balanced and informative reports on the accession process.
Reporting on the EU and the approach needs specific skills and knowledge about the EU, the key institutions and their competences and procedures, the decision-making process, as well as the responsibilities of local institutions.
In partnership with the Secretariat for European Affairs and with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, we organized the round table on "The role and importance of the media in the EU integration process - partnership, transparency and responsibility" at which the importance of European integration processes for the whole society was discussed with representatives of the media and the experiences of the countries of the region were presented.
Drita Abdiu Halili, State Secretary, Secretariat for European Affairs of the EU and North Macedonia, as well as Dragan Tilev, State Counselor from the Secretariat for European Affairs, gave a presentation at the meeting. Emphasis was placed on the importance of the process and understanding of technical aspects and the role of the media. The Croatian experiences that were conveyed to us by chief negotiator Vladimir Drobnjak, former chief negotiator of the Republic of Croatia for membership in the European Union, as well as Mr. Vladimir Medžak, former Assistant Director of the Office for European Integration, Republic of Serbia.
This event aims to support and strengthen the cooperation between the Government and the media, and given the importance of the European integration processes for the entire society of North Macedonia.
