Support to the Introduction of Sustainable Farming practices in the Prespa Lake Watershed Restoratio

Project Description

EPI CENTAR International was contracted to organize a support for the UNDP’s Project on the Introduction of Sustainable Farming practices in the Prespa Lake Watershed - Restoration of the Prespa Lake Ecosystem through several tasks and activities:

  • To provide continuous evaluation of the farming activities in the region and performance of the agribusiness sector through the organization of direct interviews and indicator measurement.
  • To coordinate the operations of the engaged agribusinesses.
  • To support the operation of the existing demonstration orchard through developing a design and implementing specific farming practices where the objective is to support the development of a successful model plot for sustainable apple farming practices.
  • To provide a capacity development support for the introduction of sustainable apple farming practices where the objective is to improve the knowledge and develop the necessary skills for the application and maintenance of the SAFP. (covering TNA, Capacity Building Program, implementation of the program, results assessment)
  • To support the design and implementation of the small grants program where the objective is to demonstrate the effects of the SAFP in practice and equip the farmers, apple producers with the necessary skills and equipment to change their production technology and further decrease the negative environmental effects, without jeopardizing their economic benefits and increased competitiveness.
